The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) is pleased to announce that passport services are returning to your local Library branch on a rotating basis. The Library offers U.S. passport services that include applying for a new passport, renewing a passport, answering customer questions, as well as taking passport photographs.

“Somerset County residents have been looking forward to the return of passport services to their local branches,” said Nicole Pascoe, civic services manager. “In fact, the first three branch visits to Bound Brook, Warren Township, and North Plainfield respectively, already have full appointment schedules. This speaks volumes to the local need and interest in U.S. passport support.”

Continued Pascoe, “With the increased media attention to the May 2023 deadline for Real ID documents for domestic flights, we have seen an influx of customers interested in passport products. Both the passport book and passport card are Real ID compliant documents, providing alternate or additional identification options to an updated state ID or driver’s license. For more information about Real ID requirements in New Jersey, visit the Motor Vehicle Commission’s dedicated web page at state.nj.us/mvc/realid.”

Beginning Wednesday, June 1, SCLSNJ’s passport team will be accepting appointments at a different branch each week from 4-7 p.m. Additionally, the Bridgewater branch will continue to offer passport services regularly on Tuesday mornings, Thursday evenings, Friday afternoons, and Saturday mornings. View the full schedule and make an appointment online at sclsnj.org/passports or call (908) 458-8400 x1161.
