National Bird Feeding Month

Did you know that February is National Bird Feeding Month? It was first observed in 1994, when Illinois Congressman John Porter read a resolution into the Congressional Record recognizing the month. Noting that February is one of the most challenging months for birds in many parts of the U.S, he encouraged people to provide food, water, and shelter for them.
Are you interested in helping out your local bird population by building a birdhouse, creating a more bird friendly garden, or making homemade bird food? Here is a selection of books from the Library’s collections to get you started:
