Open House Planned for April 28 at Rocky Hill Location

Join the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) for a jubilant celebration of the past, present, and future of the Mary Jacobs branch.

“Albert Einstein said, ‘the only thing you absolutely have to know is the location of the library’,” said Roberta Karpinecz, library commission chair. “The Mary Jacobs branch is a location well known to generations of customers throughout Somerset County. Today, the Somerset County Library Commission celebrates our longtime relationship with Mary Jacobs branch and the Library Foundation. We look forward to strengthening that relationship in the new Mary Jacobs branch which is scheduled to re-open this Fall.”

The in-person, open house event will be hosted April 28 from 10:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Drop in any time. Light refreshments will be served, and activities for children and adults will be available throughout the day.

“While the Mary Jacobs branch has been an ‘open house’ for decades – we’d love to see you there for this very special open house,” said Brian Auger, county library administrator. “We want to hear about and capture your experiences. In addition to sharing the documentary we’ve produced about the rich history of the branch so far, we’ll be able to share our exciting plans for Mary Jacobs’ next chapter. Working with the towns and Foundation, we are committed to continuing to provide responsive Library Services to our southern Somerset County residents. We will stand by this commitment to deliver the best services as outlined in our agreement.”

A documentary-style film celebrating the history of the branch will be running on loop throughout the open house event. View a preview of this film: youtu.be/vwG_FkdyyC4.

“We are excited to host this upcoming open house to celebrate the rich history and role of SCLSNJ’s Mary Jacobs branch in Rocky Hill,” said Elizabete Pata, branch manager. “We hope this will serve as a great opportunity for the community to learn about our library building history, which has had several renovations since opening in 1974 to the public. I and the team here are excited about the future of the Mary Jacobs branch and are looking forward to meeting and speaking with our community on this special day to commemorate all the historic milestones of the branch.”
