The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: How to Free Yourself and Your Family From a Lifetime of Clutter by Margareta Magnusson

Reviewed by Laura, Collection Development Librarian

A counterpart to Marie Kondo’s Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy, Magnusson provides keen observations about shedding a lifetime accumulation of stuff. She shares her personal experiences about cleaning out homes, particularly the challenge when tackling her late husband’s tool shed. Magnusson is able to take a difficult and daunting subject and make it accessible and positive. She gives readers valid tips from not starting with photos to getting rid of items you might not want family members to find. A helpful guide for anyone thinking about the process or for those who might need a gentle nudge to start.
