For Kids and Their Grown-Ups: “The Blur” by Min Lê; illustrated by Dan Santat

Review by Laura Frantz, collection development librarian

Author Min Lê and illustrator Dan Santat team up again for a wonderful picture book that perfectly captures the whirlwind nature of childhood. A child is born and soon reveals such superhero-like traits as a supersonic voice, fantastically elastic limbs and an amazing ability to transfix a group of adults with just a look. And soon this blur is on the move through so many milestones and memories. And in a blink of an eye, they are now all grown up ready for life’s next adventure.

There is so much to love about this book from its touching words to the hilarious and heartwarming illustrations. Grown-ups should expect to shed a tear or two by the final pages. This is an ideal gift for new parents or for a graduation gift. Can’t wait to see what their next collaboration brings.
