eBooks, eAudiobooks, and More! Oh, My!

One-click eCheckout coming to an SCLSNJ branch near you

The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) boasts the largest eBook collection in the State of New Jersey. And with the release of the Library’s new checkout and catalog system, it will be even easier for patrons to find and borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks with just one click.

“I can’t wait to be able to see all my holds and checkouts in the same place! With our new integrated catalog, all your books and eBooks will be available to view once you login to your account,” said Yvonne Selander, collection development manager.

By combining the new Libby app from Overdrive, the enhanced catalog searching available through mobile devices, and the ability to check out eBooks directly from the catalog, patrons will discover a more streamlined experience. These new features will delight both frequent eResource users and those patrons who are navigating the eCollections for the first time.

Selander continues, “Want to download an eBook from the new catalog? If the item is checked in you’ll be able to download the eBook without having to leave the catalog. The seamless integration of our digital and physical collections is one of the features I am most looking forward to in December.”

In early December, the Library System will be completing the installation of the new system, CARL•X from The Library Corporation. SCLSNJ’s new checkout and catalog system will offer easier searching yielding more relevant results, innovative account management features, effortless integration with eBooks and eAudio, a librarian-curated kids catalog, and an intuitive layout and user experience.
