Bring Me Back by B. A. Paris
Ten years ago Layla disappeared from a rest stop in France. She and her fiance, Finn, who proposed earlier that weekend, were returning to England after a ski vacation. Layla vanished without a trace and Finn fell to pieces afterwards. Now he has his life back together and is finally moving on, planning his wedding to the new woman in his life, Ellen, who happens to be Layla’s older sister. But someone is leaving Russian dolls where Finn will find them. Russian dolls like the one Layla always carried in her pocket. Could Layla actually be alive?
This is the story of a man who loved deeply and lost it and the very idea that the love of his life may be back tears him apart. Layla was so different from Finn but he was instantly attracted to her and her loss devastated him. It’s been ten years but communications with this mysterious person who could be Layla bring all the memories of the woman he loved and their times together to the forefront of his mind and fills him with doubt. Does he truly love Ellen? Does he love her more than he loved Layla? Would he want Layla back?
If you, like me, are a sucker for a tale told in an Irish accent don’t pass this one up on audio! I will admit to gasping at the end with the twist that I didn’t see until right before it happened.
