Library Branch Updates

The Mary Jacobs Neighborhood Library is closed until further notice due to building maintenance issues. The book return at Mary Jacobs is also closed. All returns can be dropped off at Montgomery Library, 100 Community Drive, Skillman, or at any other Somerset County Library location.

Watchung Branch

The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Watchung branch will be increasing the hours of its temporary Library location beginning Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Updated Hours:
Monday through Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturdays: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Sundays: Closed

Peapack and Gladstone branch

• The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Peapack and Gladstone branch will be temporarily closing for renovations. The closure will begin Saturday, July 27.
• Beginning in August, Peapack and Gladstone branch holds will be available for pickup at the Clarence Dillon Library, located at 2336 Lamington Road in Bedminster. Holds may be checked out using the SCLSNJ app. For more information about how to find, download, or use the SCLSNJ app, email [email protected] or contact Peapack and Gladstone branch staff at (908) 458-8440.
• Customers may change holds pickup location at any time by accessing SCLSNJ’s catalog. If you require personalized assistance to complete a holds pickup location change, email [email protected].
• For the duration of the closure, the Peapack and Gladstone branch will be partnering with local businesses and organizations to continue hosting Library programs and outreach in the community. More information to follow at SCLSNJ.org.

Peapack and Gladstone branch

• The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Peapack and Gladstone branch will be temporarily closing for renovations. The closure is expected to begin late summer.

Watchung branch

The Watchung branch temporary location at 20 Stirling Road in Watchung is now open. Library hours of operation are:

• Mondays: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
• Tuesdays through Thursdays: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
• Saturdays: 10 – 2 p.m.

Library programs for all ages are being offered at the 20 Stirling Road location with larger programs scheduled off-site at Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung. Program location will be indicated in the Library calendar as well as the printed program brochure.

 SCLSNJ’s Summer Reading Challenge began on June 10 and readers of all ages are encouraged to sign up, log their reading days, earn summer reading recognition prizes, and enter to win grand prizes.

Library services at the temporary space include an outdoor book drop, limited curated collections for customers of all ages, new materials, photocopier services, public computer access, a phone charging station, and more.

Bound Brook branch

Starting June 25, 2024, Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) staff will be hitting the streets, parks, commuter lots, and more, all around Bound Brook.

These outreach events will provide customers the opportunity to receive Library services on the go while the Bound Brook branch is temporarily closed, including: checking out Library materials, participating in SCLSNJ’s Summer Reading Challenge, renewal of Library Cards, receiving personalized reading recommendations, and more.

Tuesday Events On the Go:

• Connect with SCLSNJ staff at the Somerset County Food Bank on 7 Easy Street in Bound Brook from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• Connect with SCLSNJ at Legion Park on 548 East Main Street in Bound Brook from 2-5 p.m.

Wednesday Events On the Go:

• Connect with SCLSNJ staff at Somerset County’s Mobile HELPS Van at the New Jersey Transit commuter lot located at 106 East Main Street in Bound Brook from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
• Connect with SCLSNJ staff at Memorial Park on 78 Elizabeth Street in South Bound Brook from 11 a.m. – noon.

Thursday Events On the Go:

• Connect with SCLSNJ staff at Codrington Park on 200 Thompson Avenue in Bound Brook from 2-5 p.m.

Watching Branch Update – 4/24/2024

• The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Watchung branch will be temporarily closing for renovations on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
• Beginning May 1, 2024, all Watchung branch holds will be available for pickup at the Warren Twp. branch, located at 42 Mountain Boulevard in Warren, until Watchung’s temporary location opens in early June.
• Customers may change holds pickup location at any time by accessing SCLSNJ’s online catalog at catalog.sclsnj.org(This link opens in a new tab). If you require personalized assistance to complete a holds pickup location change, email [email protected].
• The temporary branch located at 20 Stirling Road in Watchung will be open with limited hours of operation beginning Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The temporary branch hours will be as follows:

  • Tuesdays through Thursdays: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 10 – 2 p.m.
