Beastie Boys Book by Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz
Reviewed by Laura, Collection Development Librarian
Part tribute to Adam Yauch, part love letter to a pre-gentrified NYC and part memoir, Beastie Boys Book is a fitting mash up of pictures, colorful anecdotes, fun facts and recollections by friends of the influential band. The book is written by the two surviving members (Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz). It traces how the three met, their initial roots in punk rock and their success during the early stages of rap music and MTV. They look at how their music, style, interests and reputation have evolved over the years, including plenty of cringe-worthy moments and redemptive ones. A fun book for casual and die-hard fans.
